Building a new home in Bradford West Gwillimbury is getting more affordable, with development charge reductions expected to lower construction costs by up to $36,500 per home while helping get shovels in the ground on thousands of new homes.
Bradford West Gwillimbury is receiving up to $94.8 million through the new Development Charge Reduction Program in recognition of the town’s commitment to significantly reduce development charges for three years.
Combined with our Ontario PC government’s work to remove the full HST on eligible new homes, families could save up to $166,500 on the cost of a new home.
The investment will also help build the critical infrastructure needed to support Bradford West Gwillimbury’s growing community, including upgrades to water and wastewater infrastructure, increased municipal water storage and improvements to local roads.
It’s part of the historic Canada-Ontario Partnership to Build, which is investing up to $8.8 billion over 10 years in housing-enabling infrastructure to support growing communities, unlock new homes and keep workers on the job.
And we’re seeing signs of progress. A recent report from BILD and the Ontario Home Builders’ Association found that home sales increased 130 per cent year over year in the second quarter of 2026.
Earlier this week, Vaughan received up to $697.2 million and Hamilton received up to $572 million through the Development Charge Reduction Program to help lower the cost of building new homes and fund critical infrastructure.
